Becoming Part of the CPS Principal Candidate Pool
In most cases at CPS, Local School Councils select principal candidates from the CPS Principal Candidate Pool. Aspiring principals must pass the CPS Principal Eligibility Process in order to become part of the Principal Candidate Pool.
CPS Principal Competencies & Success Factors
The CPS Principal Competencies & Success Factors describe the knowledge, skills and abilities required for success in the principal role. These are the minimum qualifications that principal candidates must demonstrate in order to be granted admission to Principal Candidate Pool and be offered a contract or appointment. The CPS Principal Competencies and Success Factors reflect available research about principal effectiveness, best practices and were developed with current and former CPS principals and leaders. The CPS Principal Eligibility Process is designed to measure the applicant’s ability to demonstrate each of the twelve Success Factors. Click here to download detailed information about each of the CPS Principal Competencies & Success Factors.
CPS Eligibility Process
The process by which current and aspiring principals demonstrate evidence of the CPS Principal Competencies & Success Factors is called the CPS Principal Eligibility Process. The process is administered several times during the year.
The process consists of 4 steps. Click on each step below for more information on that particular step and how to get ready.
